Road Trip itineraries

Driving legs, fuel and break stops planned as part of the route.

On a road trip the route is the itinerary. This plan breaks the drive into legs of a few hours, places a real stop — a viewpoint, a dhaba, a small town — at each break, and keeps the last leg finishing before dark. Distances and driving times are shown per leg, not as a single daunting total.

Frequently asked questions

How do I plan a road trip itinerary?

Split the drive into legs of no more than three hours, put a worthwhile stop at every break, and plan to arrive before sunset. Guide My Holiday shows each leg with its distance and driving time so you can see where the long days are before you book anything.

How many kilometres a day is reasonable on a road trip?

About 250-350 km a day on Indian highways once you account for stops; hill roads cut that closer to 150-200 km. More than that and the trip becomes driving with sightseeing attached.
